State infrastructure, transport and digital committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari said contractors are now investigating the source of the leakage that resulted in the sinkhole.

"We need to find the source of the leakage before we can proceed further," he said briefly in a press conference at Komtar.

On Monday (Jan 19), a sinkhole was discovered on the side lane of Jalan Kenyalang 1 in Bayan Lepas.

The incident caused the road to be closed until Sunday (Jan 25) as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of road users.
