Education system to be beefed up

PETALING JAYA: The Education Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the education system while ensuring that Bahasa Malaysia remains the national language.

This comes after a royal address by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, at the opening of the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament yesterday.

His Majesty had decreed that while education system reforms were necessary, any such action must be carried out in line with the national education policy, with Bahasa Melayu prioritised as our national language.

The Ministry said it would ensure the upcoming Education Blueprint 2026-2035 follows the decree of His Majesty while strengthening the national education ecosystem as the foundation for nation-building, national identity and the country’s future.

“Let His Majesty’s royal address serve as a reminder for everyone under the ministry to strive toward enhancing our national education system,” it said in a statement yesterday.

“The ministry will ensure that His Majesty’s royal address is implemented for the improvement of national education.”

The ministry added that the Education Blueprint 2026-2035 emphasises efforts to uphold Malay as the national language, strengthen proficiency in English and promote other languages.
