KJ has not submitted form to rejoin Umno, says sec-gen

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has not submitted his form to rejoin the party, says Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

The Umno secretary-general said this following the president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid’s speech on Friday (Jan 17) to welcome anyone, including former party leaders who left the party.

“Khairy, he has yet to submit the form,” he said in a press conference at the Laman Media of the Umno General Assembly 2025 held at World Trade Centre (WTC) here, on Saturday.

Asyraf also added that the party has been receiving a lot of applications from individuals but could not share the exact figures.

“We welcome all, and it is not for me to choose who can submit their applications.

“As we understand from the president’s policy speech, the party is open to all.

“If we look into the president’s speech, the Rumah Bangsa is for all. It is because all of them came from Umno’s womb,” he said when questioned if any former Bersatu leaders would be returning to Umno.

Asked if Umno will hold an official meeting with other parties, such as PAS or Bersatu, for the house unification (Rumah Bangsa) movement, Asyraf said the matter will be addressed by the president in his speech later.
