Warm welcome as Khairy returns to Umno General Assembly


KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin returns to the party’s general assembly after two years.

The former health minister arrived at the World Trade Centre around 8.40am and received a warm welcome from Umno members, including Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

Khairy was seen wearing a white baju melayu complete with songkok and red sampin.

The former Rembau MP was also seen embracing Reezal at the building entrance.

Khairy was also seen entering the hall for the opening of the Youth wing in conjunction with the Umno General Assembly at Dewan Merdeka today (Jan 15).

Also present were Umno veteran Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz and Langkawi Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib.

On Wednesday (Jan 14), Umno Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh confirmed that Khairy would be attending the assembly on Thursday (Jan 15).

In 2025, Khairy was seen returning to the Umno building to participate as a panellist at a forum.

On Jan 23, 2023, Khairy confirmed that he was sacked from Umno for violating party discipline.
