Primary school teacher in Negri charged with sexually assaulting four pupils


SEREMBAN: A 41-year-old male teacher at a primary school her has claimed trial in the Sessions Court here to sexually assaulting four 12-year-old pupils.

Mohamad Kamal Nik Ismail pleaded not guilty after four charges were read to him before judge Surita Budin.

The accused was charged with committing the crimes in the Senawang school between June 2024 and Sept 2025.

He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term not exceeding 20 years and whipping.

Deputy public prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni told the court the prosecution was offering the accused bail of RM30,000 for each offence.

She also asked the court to order the accused to stay away from the victims and witnesses, to report at the nearest police station once a month until his case was disposed of and to surrender his passport.

The accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded for minimum bail.

He said he had since been transferred out from the school to a teacher resource centre.

Surita then fixed bail at RM9,000 for each charge and allowed the other applications by the prosecution.

She then fixed Feb 23 for next mention for submission of documents and to allow the accused to appoint a lawyer.
