GEDONG: The Sarawak government is building new quarters throughout the state for the use of both state and federal civil servants.
Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said RM4bil was allocated under the 13th Malaysia Plan to fulfil the need for suitable quarters, particularly for federal officers.
"What we will do is to share the quarters with federal civil servants.
"If they don't have quarters, or the quarters are bad, they are unlikely to serve here.
"Since we are building new quarters, we can share them," he told reporters after launching the state-level cloud-based clinic management system here on Thursday (Jan 15).
Abang Johari said the new quarters would be apartment-style and equipped with recreation facilities like gyms.
He said the first new quarters were being built in rural and suburban areas like Mulu, Limbang and Jepak.
"We'll provide these facilities, then civil servants will have a smile on their faces," he said.
