Local party sentiment still dominant among Kinabatangan voters, says Warisan candidate

Warisan’s Kinabatangan parliamentary candidate Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman speaking during a campaign event.

KINABATANGAN: Support for Sabah-based political parties remains strong among Kinabatangan voters, said Warisan parliamentary candidate Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman.

“Voters today are responding to local parties. They want to see local parties lead the government in the future,” he said when met at Tongod, here, Thursday (Jan 15).

He noted that in the Nov 29 Sabah state election, Sabah parties and independents secured 65 of the 73 seats contested, while national parties won eight seats, including six by Barisan Nasional.

“Local parties have already secured a large majority in Sabah. I hope this will also be reflected in this by-election,” he added.

Saddi is facing Barisan Nasional’s Naim Kurniawan Moktar and independent candidate Goldam Hamid. Polling for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election is scheduled for Jan 24.
