Johor Environment Department (DOE) director Dr Mohd Famey Yusoff.

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Environment Department (DOE) carried out 13 enforcement operations throughout 2025, issuing notices and compounds amounting to RM1.16mil to ensure compliance with environmental laws across the state.

State director Dr Mohd Famey Yusoff said the operations, including Ops Lembangan, Ops Gempur and Ops Air Raya, targeted industrial areas, licensed premises and sewage plants.

“During inspections of 590 premises, we issued 530 field orders, 200 notice of orders, and conducted 24 seizures of equipment causing pollution,” he said in a statement here on Thursday (Jan 15).

He added that a total of 580 compound recommendations amounting to RM1.16mil were imposed under the Environmental Quality Regulations to deter activities that could harm the environment and public health.

Beyond enforcement, Mohd Famey said the state DOE also provided advisory services and conducted five seminars to raise awareness and strengthen industries’ responsibility towards environmental compliance.

“We remain committed to ensuring Johor’s development is sustainable without compromising environmental quality,” he said.

Mohd Famey urged the public to report any pollution activities through the 24-hour toll-free hotline 1-800-88-2727, via email at aduan_k@doe.gov.my, or through the DOE’s e-aduan portal at https://eaduan.doe.gov.my
