Armed Forces pledges full cooperation with any probes

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) has pledged its full cooperation with any authorities or relevant agencies conducting investigations involving the organisation.

In a statement Tuesday (Jan 13), the Armed Forces said ongoing investigations require time and careful scrutiny to ensure that any action taken is fair, fact-based and free from external influence.

Despite the scrutiny, the MAF said it remains confident that the institution continues to be led by officers and personnel who serve with integrity and sincerity. However, it stressed that the organisation will continue to undertake self-reflection and remain committed to improving its systems, governance and service delivery.

“The beginning of 2026 has seen the Malaysian Armed Forces facing various challenges and issues that have drawn public attention.

“The MAF takes every matter raised seriously and adopts an open, factual and responsible approach to ensure that public confidence in the nation’s defence institution is preserved,” the statement said.

The MAF also reiterated its stance that it will not compromise on any form of misconduct that could tarnish the organisation’s image and credibility.

“The MAF remains steadfast in its commitment to defending the nation’s sovereignty in line with its established mission and vision,” it added.

In recent weeks, the MAF has come under public scrutiny following several high-profile cases being investigated by the authorities, including probes by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) into alleged corruption and abuse of power involving defence procurement tenders, as well as the recent detention of a former senior military officer.

The institution has also been linked to allegations of unhealthy practices within the armed forces, which have given rise to various negative public perceptions.

All cases are still under investigation, and the MAF has reiterated its commitment to fully cooperate with the authorities to uphold transparency, accountability and the rule of law.
