PM Anwar chairs Cabinet meeting fresh off the plane from Turkiye

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived home on Friday (Jan 9) after a three-day official visit to Turkiye.

In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister said he proceeded directly to his office to chair a Cabinet meeting.

"Alhamdulillah, I arrived home safely after concluding my official visit to the Republic of Turkiye. I then went to the office to chair the Cabinet meeting. For Malaysia!” he wrote.

Anwar’s first official visit to Turkiye, which began on Jan 6 at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, was part of ongoing efforts to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkiye.

It also marked a significant milestone, particularly with the establishment of the Malaysia-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).

He was conferred the Order of the Republic by Erdogan in recognition of his role in strengthening Malaysia-Turkiye relations.- Bernama
