Dr Wee pays tribute to late MCA veteran Wang Choon Wing

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has paid tribute to party veteran Wang Choon Wing @ Wong Soon Joong, who passed away.

Describing Wang as a firm and fair leader, the MCA president said the former Lipis MP and deputy youth, sports and culture minister gave his best and worked tirelessly for the people and Malaysia.

“Throughout his many years of dedication, he left behind lasting contributions not only to the party, but also to the nation and the wider community,” said Dr Wee in a Facebook post on Friday night (Jan 9).

He said he was deeply saddened to receive the news of Wang’s passing.

“On behalf of the MCA, I convey my deepest and most sincere condolences to his family,” Dr Wee added.

He said that in Wang’s public life, he served with integrity and principle.

“As MCA national organising secretary and disciplinary committee chairman, he was firm yet fair, always guided by his deep sense of responsibility to the party,” Dr Wee said.

Even after stepping away from frontline politics, he said Wang never stopped serving society.

“He devoted his time and wisdom to community and social causes, serving as vice-president of the Malaysian Buddhist Association and as an honorary advisor to the Malaysia–China Chamber of Commerce.

“His passing is a profound loss to the Chinese community and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“Wang’s resilience, humility, and unwavering commitment to serving others will continue to live on in the hearts of those he inspired,” said Dr Wee, adding that Wang will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
