Boy, 13, dies in hospital after being found unconscious at home

MELAKA: A teenage boy was discovered unconscious by his parents in a locked bathroom at their home in Taman Merdeka on Tuesday (Jan 6) and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the 13-year-old boy had been left alone at home while his parents went out on an errand to Melaka Raya at 8am.

"Upon returning around 11.30am, they called out to him, but there was no response. Hearing the sound of running water from the bathroom, they checked and found the door locked from the inside.

"The boy's 50-year-old father forced the door open and found the teenager lying unconscious on the floor. He pulled the boy out while his wife called for an ambulance," said Patit in a statement.

An ambulance arrived at noon and rushed the victim to Melaka Hospital. Despite doctors performing CPR for half an hour, they were unable to revive him.

ACP Patit said a preliminary police examination of the body revealed no signs of foul play. The cause of death remains under investigation. - Bernama
