Form One student seriously injured in third-floor fall at Kulim school

KULIM: A Form One student was seriously injured after he was believed to have fallen from the third floor of a school here on Sunday (Oct 4).

Kulim OCPD Supt Syamsul Sinring said the incident occurred at about 3.30pm, with the 13-year-old found lying on the ground near the staircase of the school's Block E.

"A teacher discovered the incident and informed the afternoon session senior assistant before contacting the police. The teacher said the student was conscious and able to speak when he was found before being taken to Kulim Hospital," he said in a statement Tuesday (Oct 6).

However, he stressed that investigations were ongoing, with several individuals, including the student's parents, called to give statements.

The student remains in the hospital's red zone with serious injuries, including bleeding in the brain, as well as facial and leg fractures.

Supt Syamsul said the case was being investigated under Section 507D(2) of the Penal Code. - Bernama
