KOTA KINABALU: Nominated Sabah assemblyman Datuk Roger Chin and former federal minister Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau have been appointed to head two state government agencies.
Chin will take over as chairman of Invest Sabah from Tan Sri Anifah Aman, while Tamparuli assemblyman Madius has been appointed Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) Sabah chairman, replacing Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee.
Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also state Industry, Entrepreneurship and Transportation Minister, presented the letters of appointment to Chin and Madius at a simple ceremony at his office here on Monday (Dec 29).
Former Sabah Customs Department director Datuk Jonathan Kandok was also appointed POIC Sabah deputy chairman.
Ewon said in his speech that the appointment of the three experienced figures reflects the state government’s commitment to ensuring that Sabah’s investment, industrial and logistics sectors continue to be driven in an orderly, inclusive and high-impact manner.
He reiterated his commitment to continue implementing the Sabah First agenda within his ministry, with a strong focus on developing an investment and entrepreneurship ecosystem that is friendly to investors and entrepreneurs.
"The appointments are in line with the Sabah First approach, where the interests and benefits of the people and Sabah’s economy are always the priority.
"I believe with their extensive experience and expertise, POIC Sabah and Invest Sabah will continue to play a strategic role in attracting quality investments and enhancing the state's competitiveness," he said.
All three appointees thanked the state government for the trust given to them and pledged to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to them with full commitment.
