Community leader calls for investigation into public indecency at Likas Bay

KOTA KINABALU: A viral social media video of a couple allegedly involved in a sex act in a public place along the city’s popular Likas Bay here should be investigated, says Sayang Sabah Community Club deputy president Steve Johnny Mositun.

He said the incident, which allegedly occurred in a public place sometime last week, should be thoroughly investigated, as it involves two individuals allegedly engaging in inappropriate behaviour.

“The incident has raised public concern as it was carried out openly without regard for social norms, etiquette, and public sensitivities.

“A public place is not a private space, and Sabah should not become a stage for normalising behaviour that clearly goes against etiquette, culture and our values,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 28).

He urged authorities to investigate the incident thoroughly, including the roles of those who recorded and disseminated the content, and to take action against those who violated the law.

“Action should be considered not only against the individuals involved in the video, but also against those who recorded and spread the footage if it contravenes existing laws,” he said.
