Political developments in Perlis must be in the people's interest, says Bersatu's Hamzah

PETALING JAYA: Any political developments in Perlis must be guided by the interests of the people and the state, and the need for long-term stability, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

The Bersatu deputy president said the matter must be handled with full maturity.

“The people place their full confidence in the Raja of Perlis to exercise his wisdom and prerogative powers in accordance with the state constitution to determine the appointment of a new Mentri Besar,” he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 26).

Hamzah stressed that the party’s priority was to ensure that the Perlis state government continued to function effectively and was able to focus fully on the welfare and needs of the people.

The move, he said, was in line with the mandate and expectations given to Perikatan Nasional in the 15th General Election by the voters.

He also called on all parties to remain calm following the political developments in the state.
