Kuchai Lama crash: Police call for more witnesses as investigation nears completion


PETALING JAYA: Police are close to completing investigations into a road accident, which claimed the life of a man who had just married a month ago.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said several witnesses to the crash, involving a car and a motorcycle along Jalan Kuchai Lama from Sri Petaling heading towards Old Klang Road, have been called in to give a statement.

He said this included the owner of a dashcam recording.

"The investigation papers will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor soon for further action, including whether any arrests or charges will be made.

“No arrests have been made so far as the case is still under investigation," he said when contacted.

It was reported that the victim, Muhammad Harish Aiman Mat Zahid, 25, who was riding a motorcycle, collided with a Honda City driven by a 38-year-old local man at around 12.30am on Dec 8.

He sustained severe head injuries and was treated at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) before being pronounced dead at 7.11am on Dec 9.

Initial investigations indicate that the collision occurred as the victim was entering a bend while the car was approaching from the Sri Petaling direction.

The victim’s death has drawn sympathy from the public, as family members revealed that he and his wife had married on Nov 7.

The wedding reception planned by the family for last Saturday had to be postponed following the tragedy.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident, including dashcam footage circulating on social media, to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Tun H.S. Lee Traffic police station at 03-2071 9999 or any nearby police station.
