Four arrested for obstructing madrasah students alleged abuse investigations


KOTA KINABALU: Police arrested four men, aged 30 to 50s, for trying to obstruct a civil servant investigating an incident of child abuse in Telipok here late afternoon on Monday (Dec 15).

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda said a metal rod was also seized from the group during the arrests at 6.45pm after they received a police report about an abuse incident at around 11.55pm on Dec 14 at a business premises here involving a group of madrasah students and a man.

While the police were arresting the man named in the police report, several individuals proceeded to block the police vehicle.

"The men hurled insults, tried to open the vehicle’s doors, kicked and hit the vehicle till they obstructed the duties of the police,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 16).

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of Penal Code for obstructing public servant in discharge of his public functions. — Bernama
