SEPANG: Nineteen officers from the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) have faced disciplinary action after being found guilty of various offences involving breaches of integrity and work procedures.
AKPS KLIA, in a statement on Monday (Dec 15), said the decision followed a Disciplinary Board session held on Friday (Dec 12).
“Nineteen officers were found guilty of various offences, including being absent from duty and violating work procedures related to security stamps for entry and exit from the country.
“All have received disciplinary actions such as warnings, pay movement delays and salary reductions in line with prevailing public service regulations,” the agency said.
Additionally, AKPS KLIA has opened 43 disciplinary investigation cases involving officers’ integrity issues for various offences, including breaches of Standard Operating Procedures, work procedures and regulations.
“These involve the use of entry and exit security stamps, counter inspection controls and offences related to ‘flying passport’ and ‘counter setting’ practices, which undermine the integrity of national border control,” the statement added.
AKPS KLIA stressed it will not compromise on any misconduct or breach of integrity, especially in the area of entry and exit control, which is a critical element of national security.
