KTMB announces new Komuter timetable for Klang Valley services effective Jan 1

KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will introduce a new timetable for KTM Komuter services in the Klang Valley, effective Jan 1, 2026, in line with the progress of the Klang Valley Double Track Phase II project.

In a statement, KTMB said the new timetable would apply to the Tanjung Malim-Pelabuhan Klang-Tanjung Malim and Pulau Sebang-Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang routes, reflecting ongoing progress on the project.

The timetable adjustment was part of service enhancement efforts, as track-upgrading works under the project begin to deliver more stable operational capacity, it said.

"These changes are expected to improve train journey smoothness, optimise movements along the affected routes and support the provision of more consistent services for users," read the Sunday (Dec 14) statement.

KTMB also announced that with the implementation of the new timetable, shuttle bus services for the Subang Jaya-Pelabuhan Klang route and at affected intermediate stations would no longer be provided.

To meet peak-hour demand, KTMB said it would operate trains at 30-minute intervals on the Pelabuhan Klang-Kuala Lumpur and Tanjung Malim-Kuala Lumpur routes.

Under the new schedule, two morning services from Tanjung Malim to Pelabuhan Klang and one service to Shah Alam will be introduced to meet commuter demand, including services via KL Sentral.

KTMB said maintenance work and track closures would continue daily from 11am to 3pm, during which no passenger train services would operate on the Pelabuhan Klang-KL Sentral-Pelabuhan Klang route.

The schedule changes also affect the Pulau Sebang-Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang route, with 30-minute frequencies during the morning and evening peak periods to be maintained.

During the transition period, train operations in the Pelabuhan Klang sector would continue to use a single track between Abdullah Hukum Station and Pelabuhan Klang Station, while comprehensive upgrading works under the project are underway and are expected to be fully completed in 2029.

The new timetable is available via the KITS STYLE application or KTMB's official website. Additional information is available on KTMB's official social media channels or via the KTMB Call Centre at 03-9779 1200. – Bernama
