KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will provide additional services for KTM Komuter and Electric Train Services (ETS) for three days starting July 31 to August 2 in conjunction with the Negri Sembilan state election.
In a statement on Wednesday (July 29), KTMB announced that the initiative was implemented to accommodate the increased number of passengers, especially voters who want to return to Negri Sembilan to fulfil their responsibilities on polling day, which falls on Aug 1.
According to the statement, a total of 18 additional KTM Komuter trips will be provided according to the weekday schedule on Friday (July 31), while another 18 trips will be provided according to the weekend schedule on Saturday and Sunday (Aug 1 & 2).
"The additional commuter service involves 10 trips on the Batu Caves-Pulau Sebang-Batu Caves route and eight trips on the Tanjung Malim-Port Klang-Tanjung Malim route.
"During the three days, KTMB provides a total capacity of 233,600 passengers, comprising 190,400 passengers through existing scheduled services and 43,200 passengers for additional train services," the statement added.
For ETS services, KTMB will provide 30 additional trips involving the KL Sentral-JB Sentral-KL Sentral route (12 trips), JB Sentral-Seremban-JB Sentral (12 trips) and KL Sentral-Padang Besar-KL Sentral (six trips) with a total of 9,480 seats.
For the JB Sentral-Seremban-JB Sentral route, train EP9636 is scheduled to depart from JB Sentral at 2.10pm and arrive in Seremban at 5.15pm, while EP9637 departs from Seremban at 5.45pm and arrives at JB Sentral at 8.50pm.
Train EP9630 departs from JB Sentral at 6.15am (arrives 9.20am), and EP9633 departs from Seremban at 9.50am (arrives 12.55pm).
For the JB Sentral-KL Sentral-JB Sentral route, the departure time from JB Sentral is at 7.00am via train EX9572 (arrives 11.10am) and 5.30pm for EX9578 (arrives 9.40pm).
Train EX9575 departs from KL Sentral at 11.55am (arrives 4.05pm) while EX9573 departs at 9.05am (arrives 1.20pm).
For the KL Sentral-Padang Besar-KL Sentral route, train EP9273 is scheduled to depart Padang Besar at 11.05am and arrive at KL Sentral at 4.30pm, while train EP9276 departs KL Sentral at 5.00pm and arrives at Padang Besar at 10.20pm.
Meanwhile, KTMB announced that works under the Klang Valley Electric Double Track Infrastructure Facilities Upgrading Project Phase 2 (KVDT2) on the affected route will be temporarily suspended for the three-day period to ensure smooth and safe train movement.
KTM Komuter users on the Tanjung Malim-Port Klang route are advised to change trains at KL Sentral Station to continue their journey to Seremban Station and Pulau Sebang Station.
KTMB also advises the public to plan their journeys in advance and check the latest timetable via its official channels. – Bernama
