SUBANG JAYA: Batik Air has introduced four new direct routes from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport to local and international cities.

The new services to Singapore and Jakarta in Indonesia began on Dec 8, followed by domestic destinations – Johor Baru on Dec 11 and Langkawi on Dec 12.

Batik Air chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said this strategic expansion enhances the airport’s role as a modern, convenient gateway for travellers in the Klang Valley.

“With its central location and ongoing upgrades, the airport is steadily evolving into a key hub for business and leisure travel.

“The new routes provide travellers with greater flexibility and an alternative to Kuala Lumpur International Airport,” he said after a water salute celebration to welcome a direct flight from Singapore to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport yesterday.

He said the new routes support the government’s Subang Airport Regeneration Plan, positioning the airport as a vibrant gateway that stimulates tourism growth and economic activity.

“As Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026, these new routes play a critical role in opening our country to more visitors. Improved connectivity enables travellers to experience Malaysia’s diverse attractions with greater ease, while also strengthening economic ties, trade flow and regional cooperation,” he added.

Currently, Batik Air operates flights from Subang to Penang, Kota Baru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Bangkok in Thailand.

Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the new routes could boost the number of tourists to Selangor as the state is making its final push for Visit Selangor Year 2025.

“With 6.4 million tourist arrivals recorded as of the third quarter of the year, the new routes, especially from Indonesia, our strongest medical tourism market, will further boost arrivals into Selangor.”

Chua said the additional connectivity would also support the growing cruise sector in Klang and enhance overall accessibility within the Klang Valley.

“As Asean remains our key focus market, Tourism Selangor welcomes continued collaboration with Batik Air to strengthen regional tourism growth,” she added.

Batik Air is currently running a promotional campaign for bookings made between Dec 12 and 14, for travel from now until June 2026.
