Probe launched after foreigner seen driving vehicle bearing immigration logo

PETALING JAYA: Authorities have launched an investigation into a video depicting a foreign national driving a vehicle bearing the Immigration Department logo.

Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban confirmed in a statement on Sunday (Aug 9) that the vehicle shown in the viral social media post is not an official department asset.

"The department takes the unauthorised use of its logo on this vehicle seriously, as it creates public confusion and fuels misconceptions," Zakaria said.

"An investigation is underway to identify the individual involved and determine why the logo was used. Appropriate legal action will follow if any violations are established," he added.

Zakaria emphasised that the department will not tolerate any unauthorised use or misuse of its official emblem and identity that risks misleading the public or tarnishing its institutional image and integrity.
