Batik Air launches new routes, four from Subang Airport

SUBANG: Batik Air launches multiple new routes, including four operating from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang.

The new services include Singapore and Jakarta, followed by Johor Baru and Langkawi which start operations this month.

Batik Air chief executive officer Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said this strategic expansion further strengthens Subang’s role as a modern, convenient city gateway for travellers in the Klang Valley.

“With its central location and ongoing upgrades, Subang Airport is steadily evolving into a key hub for both business and leisure travel.

"The services provide travellers with greater flexibility and an alternative to Kuala Lumpur International Airport,” he said.

The new services to Singapore and Jakarta started from Dec 8, the Johor Baru route began on Dec 11 and Langkawi commences on Friday (Dec 12).

Earlier, the media witnessed Batik Air’s water salute celebration for its direct flight from Singapore at the Subang Airport here on Friday.

Chandran said the new additional flight routes support the government’s Subang Airport Regeneration Plan (SARP), positioning the airport as a vibrant gateway that strengthens tourism growth and stimulates economic activity.

“As Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, these new routes play a critical role in opening our country to more visitors.

“The latest additions strengthen the airline’s growing network, enhancing accessibility and offering travellers more convenient travel options across Malaysia and the region,” he added.

Currently, Batik Air operates flights from Subang to Penang, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, and Bangkok.

Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said the introduction of Batik Air’s new routes is timely as the state is pushing for the Visit Selangor Year 2025 target.

“With 6.4 million tourist arrivals recorded as of this year, these additional connections, especially the new direct flights to Indonesia, our strongest medical tourism market, will further boost arrivals into Selangor.

“The improved connectivity will also support the growing cruise sector in Klang and enhance overall accessibility within the Klang Valley.

“As Asean remains our key focus market, Tourism Selangor welcomes continued collaboration with Batik Air to strengthen regional tourism growth,” she said.
