Defence Minister visits UAE to strengthen bilateral ties


KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin is on a two-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Mohamed Khaled, who arrived safely at Dubai International Airport late last night, chaired a pre-council session to finalise preparations and ensure the visit proceeds smoothly and as planned.

He is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei at the UAE Ministry of Defence in Abu Dhabi.

"I am also scheduled to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on defence cooperation between Malaysia and the UAE. It will mark an important step toward strengthening strategic collaboration between both nations," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Dec 11).

Mohamed Khaled expressed hope that the visit will yield positive outcomes and open doors for deeper cooperation in security and defence, benefitting Malaysia and the UAE.
