PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan will place renewed emphasis on strengthening institutional reforms following the coalition’s performance in the recent Sabah election, says Datuk Fahmi Fadzil (pic).
Pakatan’s communications director stated that a Presidential Council meeting held earlier today agreed that several key reform measures must be accelerated and pursued more decisively in the coming months.
"The leadership has examined the Sabah election results in detail and believes that certain aspects of institutional reform need greater emphasis and must be carried out with stronger resolve," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 9).
Fahmi said the meeting, chaired by Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, also discussed governance issues within the government, the people’s economic situation and the progress of manifesto commitments over the coalition’s three years in power.
He added that the council also decided to hold a Pakatan Harapan Convention in the first quarter of 2026.
"The convention will outline the coalition’s reform priorities and set the nation’s broad direction for the next two years," he said.
On Monday (Dec 8), the PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) held a special meeting to discuss post-Sabah election developments at Seri Perdana in Putrajaya.
The meeting also involved discussions on the performance of seats contested by PKR and Pakatan Harapan, where the party is gathering views and findings that will be reviewed at the next MPP meeting.
In the November state polls, PKR contested 12 seats and only won the Melalap seat through Datuk Jamawi Ja’afar, while Pakatan contested 23 seats and had no wins from other coalitions.
