Diploma student dies from high blood pressure complications in Melaka


MELAKA: A Politeknik Merlimau student was found dead at his rented home in Taman Merlimau Emas, Merlimau on Friday (Dec 6).

Sinar Harian reported that Jasin police chief Supt Lee Robert said police received a call at around noon from a medical officer at Sungai Rambai Health Clinic regarding a death at a house in the area.

Investigations found that the victim, Mohamad Zul Hakimi Abdul Rahman, 19, was discovered unconscious in front of his bedroom by a housemate.

The housemate immediately called 999 for paramedic assistance but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The student had no history of illness and was living in the rented house with 14 other friends.

Police’s initial investigation found no criminal elements on the victim’s body and the case has been classified as sudden death.

Politeknik Merlimau Melaka expressed its condolences to the family of the third-semester Diploma in Electrical Engineering student, noting in a statement that the student had just completed an examination that morning and returned to his residence before being found collapsed by a housemate.

A post-mortem by the Jasin Hospital Forensic Unit found that the cause of death was serious complications from high blood pressure.
