Nine workers in toxic gas accident

CHUKAI: Nine workers suffered breathing difficulties after inhaling toxic gas during maintenance work at an animal-food processing factory in Kerteh near here.

Terengganu Fire and Rescue Department Zone 2 chief Rohaya Jamil said 18 firefighters, including members of the hazardous materials (Hazmat) team, rushed to the scene at the Kerteh Biopolymer Park after receiving an emergency call at 6.51pm on Sunday.

Rohaya said that six of the ­victims were subsequently referred to Dungun Hospital, while the remaining three were allowed to return home.
