Nanta assures continuity in operations, policies after assuming Entrepreneur Development portfolio

PETALING JAYA: Works Minister Datuk Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi (pic) will assume the duties and functions of the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister effective Wednesday (Dec 3).

Expressing his appreciation for the confidence placed in him by the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Nanta said he would ensure continuity in the ministry's operations and policy implementation.

"I am committed to ensuring that... ongoing policies continue for the benefit of entrepreneurs, SMEs, cooperatives and the people," he said on Tuesday (Dec 2).

"I appreciate all the work and dedication shown by Datuk Ewon Benedick while leading the ministry.

"I look forward to working closely with agencies, industry partners and stakeholders to ensure smooth administration throughout my service," he said.

Nanta added that while continuing his role as Works Minister, he would carry out the additional responsibilities with full commitment to ensure smooth functioning.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the decision was announced to the Cabinet at its meeting on Friday (Nov 28).

Shamsul Azri also conveyed the government’s appreciation to Ewon, the Penampang MP, during his tenure.

“The government records its gratitude and thanks for all contributions and service rendered by Ewon throughout his time as Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister," he said.
