A PEACEFUL fishing trip almost turned deadly after a crocodile attacked a man in Teluk Intan, leaving him seriously injured, Utusan Malaysia reported.

The victim, Muhammad Zarith Hafizi, 28, was attacked and dragged by a crocodile while casting his net in Kampung Sungai Buaya, Kampung Gajah, yesterday.

He suffered serious injuries to his left thigh.

“When I was trying to pull back the net, a crocodile suddenly grabbed my left leg. I screamed for help.

“My friend quickly grabbed my hand and managed to pull me out of the river,” he said.

Muhammad Zarith described the crocodile’s grip was so strong that it pulled him to the middle of the river.

He is currently being treated at Teluk Intan Hospital.

> Residents in Kampung Raja Uda, Klang, are anxious over a proposed columbarium project near their homes, Harian Metro reported.

Around 5,000 villagers disagree with this plan, adding that as Klang is a royal town, it carries prestige and formality.

“The construction site is far too close to our homes.

“It’s like opening your front door and immediately seeing the building,” said a villager.

Kampung Raja Uda Mosque manager Ahmad Nukman Ahmad Abid Abakia said that one of the mosque’s main concerns is parking and traffic congestion.

The Klang Royal City Council has received complaints about the matter.
