Autistic girl who allegedly stabbed schoolmate remanded four days

KUALA LUMPUR: A 15-year-old girl suspected of stabbing a fellow student at a secondary school in Banting has been remanded for four days.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Maslinda Selamat at the Telok Datok Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (July 7).

Kuala Langat OCPD Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the remand was necessary to allow police to carry out further investigations.

"We will continue with investigations, taking into account all statements and evidence obtained," he said adding the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer S. Vijeswari Devi said her client was a person with disabilities.

"My client is autistic. That is all I can say," she said.

In the 9.30am incident on Monday (July 6), a Form Three girl was injured after she was stabbed multiple times on her back, shoulder and face.

The suspect had not attended school for several months and was said to be undergoing medical treatment.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar had said only one suspect was involved.

"I advise parents and the local community not to be overly worried as the situation at the school is under control.

"We should trust the authorities and avoid spreading speculation that could trigger panic," he said.
