Factory worker dies in crash on JB-Mersing road

KOTA TINGGI: A factory worker died on the spot after his motorcycle collided with a car at KM29 of the Johor Baru-Mersing road on Tuesday (Dec 2).

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Osman said the 43-year-old victim was on his way to work in Senai when the incident occurred at 5.50am.

"The car driven by a 29-year-old local man had entered the opposite lane of the road before it crashed into the motorcycle," he said in a statement.

Supt Yusof said the motorcyclist suffered severe head injuries and passed away at the scene.

The body has been sent to Hospital Kota Tinggi for a post-mortem, he added.

"The driver suffered facial injuries," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless and dangerous driving.

Supt Yusof also advised motorists to exercise more caution, especially during the current rainy season, as road surfaces could become slippery.
