BN's list of names for Sabah govt's posts given, says Zahid

BAGAN DATUK: Barisan Nasional (BN) has submitted the list of names for consideration as candidates to fill the posts of ministers and deputy ministers in the new Sabah state government.

Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in confirming this, said the state government had asked parties supporting the new government to present the names of their respective candidates to be considered for appointment.

"For the Sabah polls, as we are all aware, the formation of the government will be done soonest possible.

"We know that the cooperation among the various parties, including GRS (Gabungan Rakyat Sabah), is very good. In fact, I have personally contacted the new Chief Minister (Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor) and the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) to stabilise the politics in Sabah,” he told reporters after attending a briefing on the flood situation in Bagan Datuk here today.

He said this when asked to comment on Barisan's performance in the Sabah State Election on Saturday (Nov 29).

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, reiterated that the priority now was to ensure Sabah's political stability so that development could proceed, including electricity, water supply and road infrastructure.

"Most importantly, the well-being of the people and the Sabah Maju Jaya aspirations can be fully realised,” he said.

On Saturday, Ahmad Zahid said Barisan was ready to cooperate with like-minded parties to form a new state government following the 17th Sabah polls. - Bernama
