Senior citizen killed in hit-and-run


KUCHING: A 63-year-old cyclist died in an alleged hit-and-run on Jalan Tanjung Lipat, Batu Niah, on Saturday (Nov 29) evening.

Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the man was cycling from Pasar Batu Niah towards Kampung Tanjung Lipat at around 5.30pm when he was believed to have been struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The victim died at the scene from severe injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
