Man arrested for assaulting employer with plastic chair

KLUANG: A 51-year-old man has been arrested by the police here for allegedly hitting his employer with a chair.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the man was arrested at a playground area in Jalan Merdeka, Sri Lalang, at about 4.20pm on Friday (Nov 28), following a report about the incident.

“The suspect, who is a local, was alleged to have injured his employer with a plastic chair at a public market on Thursday (Nov 27).

“He was believed to have done so after being scolded by his 73-year-old employer for being absent from work,” he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 30).

He said the suspect, who has a prior record involving crime and drugs, tested negative for drugs.

“He is being remanded for four days starting Saturday (Nov 29) to assist in investigations,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means, he said.
