KOTA KINABALU: In a surprising turn of events, Warisan's fresh face Yusri Pungut has won Sindumin seat against Pakatan Harapan's Datuk Yamani Hafez Musa with a 362-vote majority, according to the Election Commission (EC).
Official results by the EC showed that Yusri garnered 5,086 votes against Yamani's 4,724, and independent Abdillah Jalaf @ DIla (2,570).
Yamani is the eldest son of Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman.
The other candidates – Parti Impian Sabah (293), Sabah STAR (1,469), Parti KDM (875), Parti Kebangsaan Sabah (37), independents Ibrahim Tuah (30) and Wilson Liou (54), all lost their deposits in the nine-cornered fight.
In 2020, Sindumin was won by Warisan's Yusof Yacob with a 424-vote majority. Sindumin has been held by Warisan since 2018.
