67 health facilities affected by floods, says Crisis Centre


PETALING JAYA: A total of 67 health facilities have been affected by the floods as of 5pm, according to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC).

In a statement, the CPRC said 15 of the health facilities affected by the flood are in Perlis, followed by 14 centres in Terengganu, 12 in Kelantan, 12 in Perak, nine in Pahang, three in Selangor, and two in Kedah.

“Of these, 31 are klinik desa; 17 health clinics; 15 dental clinics; two health district offices; one hospital, and one other facility.

“A total of 20 flood-affected health facilities have relocated their operations to nearby facilities, 44 continue operating as usual, while three health facilities are not operating,” the CPRC reported.

So far, a total of 422 emergency medical teams (EMT) have been mobilised, comprising 212 health rapid response teams (RRT), 183 Medical RRTs, and 27 Mental Health and Psychosocial Support teams.

These teams have been deployed to temporary relief (PPS) centres to provide medical treatment, health monitoring, and disease prevention services to flood victims.

As of 5pm on Saturday (Nov 29), a total of 3,067 victims were examined at PPS across the nine states that were affected by the floods.

“Among those screened, 391 cases of Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), 109 cases of skin infection, 22 cases of Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE), and five cases of conjunctivitis were detected.

“To date, no outbreaks have been reported among flood victims at PPS,” it said.

Based on a report by the Kelantan Health Department, there have been two deaths related to the northeast monsoon floods, which occurred in Gua Musang and Tanah Merah.

There are currently nine State CPRC Flood Operations Rooms which were activated to coordinate the management of the northeast monsoon floods

The rooms were activated in Kelantan on Nov 23 followed by Perak, Perlis, and Kedah on Nov 24; Selangor on Nov 25; Terengganu on Nov 26 November; Pahang and Negeri Sembilan on Nov 28.

The CPRC also activated its flood operations room in Melaka on Saturday (Nov 29).

Based on weather model analyses, the CPRC said MetMalaysia has reported that weather conditions are expected to improve, with no continuous rainfall forecast for Terengganu, Pahang, Kelantan, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan.
