ALOR SETAR: The Kedah State Education Department has taken strict action, suspending and then expelling a group of students involved in a recent fight at a school in the state.
The department said in a statement that it viewed the incident as a serious violation and that the authorities had also taken action in the case.
"The school has also completed a thorough internal investigation. The strict punishments of suspension and expulsion from school have been imposed on students.
"The department stresses that there is no compromise on the issue of bullying, violence and student misconduct," the statement said.
It added that all educational institutions in the state were requested to comply with the current disciplinary management procedures, prioritise student safety, and implement preventive interventions to ensure the well-being of all educational staff.

Earlier, it was reported that a Form Four male student was found unconscious in a school dormitory toilet, believed to have been beaten by a group of students on Monday (Nov 24).
Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said four male students aged 16 and 17 were arrested, with a 16-year-old remanded for three days from today to assist in the investigation. – Bernama
