Sabah polls: Hajiji urges voters to choose candidates who can develop state

TAMPARULI: With less than a week until polling day, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has urged voters to choose candidates who can deliver development for Sabah.

He said it is the people’s democratic right to vote and they should exercise it responsibly.

“Vote for a candidate who can offer development for Sabah,” said Hajiji on Sunday (Nov 23).

He spoke to reporters on the sidelines of a campaign event in Tamparuli.

Hajiji said candidates from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Pakatan Harapan have received good reception from voters.

“They chose development for the future. They have given others a chance and now they want a GRS government for the next five years,” he added.

Earlier, in his speech, Hajiji criticised opposition parties for claiming to be Sabah’s saviours.

“GRS has done its best. We have proven in the past five years that we brought various efforts and success to Sabah,” he said.

Hajiji said the GRS–Pakatan government has managed to offer RM300 in aid for the needy and the aged.

“We can do all of this because we are in a good financial position. For houses below RM500,000, we also plan to help first time buyers with deposits,” he added.

Hajiji said Tamparuli must not be represented by the opposition.

“The people will suffer and it will be hard to develop this place if the assemblyman is from the opposition,” he said.

The Tamparuli seat will see a 13-cornered fight.

The candidates include Dr Bonaventure Boniface, Warisan’s Dr Lee Han Kyun, Sabah STAR’s Jinitoh Sontori and Parti KDM’s Gaim @ James Lunkanpis.
