"Let him say what he wants. I will just focus on doing my work. Let the people evaluate what he says," Kiandee remarked ahead of Perikatan Nasional’s manifesto announcement for the Sabah state polls late Friday (Nov 21).
This follows James, the incumbent Sugut assemblyman, declaring "I would still win if I contested 10 times in the same place" during a recent podcast, dismissing Kiandee’s presence as unlikely to sway supporters.
The Sugut seat will see a seven-cornered contest with Warisan, Sabah Umno and others also in the fray.
Earlier, Perikatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin launched the coalition’s election manifesto, which includes 159 pledges under 12 pillars to develop Sabah.
Key pledges are RM4,800 annual cash aid for impoverished families, a RM300mil education fund, and RM1,000 in air travel subsidies for Sabahan students.
Themed "Kasi Bagus Sabah" (give our best to Sabah), Perikatan’s manifesto aims to ease the cost of living in rural areas.
"We will establish a government with integrity and one that prioritises the welfare of the people," said Muhyiddin, adding that the manifesto was crafted carefully to reflect the needs of all Sabahan society.
Perikatan will contest 41 of the 73 state seats when Sabah holds its polls next Saturday (Nov 29).
