Sabah polls: BN draws strength from its machinery's extensive experience

SANDAKAN: The extensive experience and thorough preparation of the Barisan Nasional machinery are believed to be among the party's main strengths in their effort to achieve victory in the 17th Sabah Election.

Kedah Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said Umno's experience in facing various series of elections, in addition to assistance from the machinery of other states including Kedah, are important factors that can strengthen Barisan's chances in Sabah.

He said the trust placed in Kedah Barisan's machinery to assist their comrades-in-arms in Sabah will be carried out diligently, especially to ensure victory in all state legislative assembly seats in the Libaran and Batu Sapi areas.

"I am confident that based on a background of more than 30 years in Sabah, this party has contributed significantly to infrastructure and educational development at all levels to ensure that no Sabah child is marginalised from accessing education.

"Barisan has also taken the initiative to ensure that educational development is carried out continuously for the children of Sabah. Therefore, we hope voters can give Barisan another chance to continue the development continuity in this state," he told Bernama.

Furthermore, the former Education Minister said priority must be given for efforts to upgrade dilapidated schools and construct dormitories for schools in the interior areas, so that students do not drop out of their studies.

In this regard, he said the role of elected representatives was crucial in ensuring that Sabah's children benefit from educational opportunities through the empowerment of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Tvet).

The Election Commission (EC) has set November 29 as polling day for the 17th Sabah Election, while the nomination date was Nov 15, and Nov 25 is set for early voting.- Bernama
