KUALA LUMPUR: The 2025 National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) Savings Month (BMS) programme has exceeded its initial RM220mil target by recording RM251.44mil in deposits from Sept 26 to Nov 2.

The organiser, the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN), said this achievement showed the effectiveness of the fund's planned strategies as well as strong community support.

"This also reflects the increasing level of awareness among parents about the need for early financial planning to secure their children's educational future, in line with the aspiration of producing quality and competitive human capital," PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim (pic) said in a statement on Friday (Nov 21).

She also expressed her appreciation to the public for their commitment to cultivating a savings culture.

Norliza also urged more government agencies, state governments and corporate bodies to choose SSPN as their primary savings instrument.

The eighth edition of BMS was held in conjunction with World Savings Day, celebrated annually on Oct 31. The programme engaged parents and children to take part through various activities and competitions.

The SSPN scheme offers various benefits, such as tax relief of up to RM8,000, free takaful coverage, a matching grant of up to RM10,000, competitive dividends, syariah compliance and a government guarantee on savings. – Bernama
