Mother of Sarawak Deputy Premier passes away

KUCHING: Puan Sri Lim Su Kheng, mother of Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, passed away on Monday (Nov 17) aged 83.

In a Facebook post, Dr Sim said she passed away at the family home surrounded by loved ones.

“I lost a mother who gave me unconditional love throughout my whole life,” he said.

“Frugal on herself but always generous with her motherly love to relatives, friends, communities and charities close to her heart,” said Dr Sim.

Lim was the wife of the late former deputy chief minister Tan Sri Sim Kheng Hong.

She was the first vice president of Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri Isteri, the association of wives of Sarawak ministers and deputy ministers.

She also held various posts in the Sarawak United People’s Party and several non-governmental organisations.

As the wife and mother of politicians, she was compassionate and understanding of their long hours at work, Dr Sim said.

He added that she was a devoted grandmother who instilled family values and love for Sarawak in her grandsons.

The wake will be held at the family home at Jalan Wan Abdul Rahman.

Sarawak Yang di Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi conveyed their condolences.

In a statement on his official Facebook page, Wan Junaidi said Lim would be remembered as a dedicated woman who understood sacrifice and commitment to public service.

“We hope the family will be given strength, patience and peace in their loss and that they will be inspired by Lim’s legacy,” he said.
