Four vehicles involved in crash on Middle Ring Road after lorry breaks down

KUALA LUMPUR: A four-vehicle collision took place after a driver failed to avoid a stationary lorry on the Middle Ring Road heading towards Sungai Besi on Nov 14.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident began when a lorry driven by a 27-year-old man experienced engine failure, forcing him to stop on the right side of the road.

The first car, driven by a 29-year-old man, stopped in front of the lorry to help place a warning sign and assisted in moving the vehicle to the left corner of the road.

While both men were at the back of the lorry, a second car, driven by a 48-year-old, failed to notice the stationary vehicles, which did not have warning signs.

The car struck both men before spinning out of control towards the left lane and hitting a Yamaha motorcycle ridden by a 29-year-old motorcyclist.

All injured victims were sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) for treatment.

A video of the accident has circulated on social media.

Witnesses are urged to assist investigations by contacting the Tun H.S. Lee traffic police station at 03-2071 9999 or their nearest police station.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
