Penang civil servants to get 0.75-month year-end aid

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government will disburse RM11.49mil in Special Financial Assistance (BKK) to 3,954 state civil servants in December 2025.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the payout, to be made together with the December salary, is equivalent to 0.75 of a month’s pay, with a minimum of RM1,000 for each eligible staff.

He said the aid was a token of appreciation for the commitment shown by state public servants, as Penang’s revenue collection has surpassed this year’s target.

As of Friday (Nov 14), the state collected RM920.15mil, exceeding the 2025 revenue target of RM906.59mil and putting the state on track to surpass RM1bil by year-end," said Chow when presenting Budget 2026 at the state assembly on Friday (Nov 14).

Apart from the 3,954 civil servants, another 3,358 individuals in the state’s education and religious sector will receive a one-off payment of RM300.

They include supervisors and teachers of Kelas Al-Quran dan Fardu Ain (Kafa), teachers and staff of People’s Religious Primary and Secondary Schools (SRAR and SMAR), Government-Assisted Religious Schools (SABK), tahfiz and pondok teachers, Islamic kindergarten (Tadis) staff, as well as teachers and staff of Chinese private schools in Penang.
