Neighbours bid emotional farewell to beloved stray dog


AN ENTIRE neighbourhood in Tamil Nadu came together to attend the wake and funeral of a stray dog named Appu, Makkal Osai reported.

Residents of Annai Satya Nagar in Namakkal held a wake and funeral rites for their beloved companion, complete with Appu’s favourite treats – chilli chicken, milk and biscuits.

Throughout his life, Appu was treated as family by every household in the area.

The heartfelt send-off for the four-legged friend has since gone viral, touching many with its reminder that compassion knows no species.

> The Sri Vadivelu Kalachara Nala Sangam association extended a helping hand to 100 families in need, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The Klang-based association’s founder and chairman, Vadivelu Bathumalai, said the initiative aimed to support Indian families in the B40 category from Shah Alam, Sri Muda, Kampung Jawa and Seksyen 27 (Hicom).

The Sangam organised a small event at SJK(T) Hicom with the support of the school parent teacher association and the school board, association secretary Maniam Chinnasamy.

Kota Kemuning assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s special officer on Indian affairs, Shanmugam Mookan, were also present to hand out the Deepavali gift baskets.
