Victim who fell from Sendayan school had asked permission to go to the toilet


PETALING JAYA: The Form Four student who fell from the third floor at a school in Seremban had asked permission to go to the toilet before being found unconscious.

Education director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azam Ahmad said the incident on Friday (June 19) occurred during an academic reporting day that allowed parents to get information about their children's progress and achievements, reported Sinar Harian.

"The victim's father was at the school prior to being informed about the incident.

"Based on initial information, the 16-year-old victim did not show any changes in behaviour or abnormal signs when going to school in the morning," said Mohd Azam.

"There were also no elements of bullying," he said, adding that the victim also do not have records of any health issues.

"The state Education Department and school has been instructed to delve deeper to the cause," he added.

Mohd Azam said the Education Ministry would also let the relevant authorities investigate the matter and urge the public not to share pictures or videos related to the incident to respect the family's privacy.

"The ministry would also prepare psychosocial assistance to the family, classmates and teachers affected," he said.

Negri Sembilan police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the police have received information about the incident at about 10.48am.

"The matter has been classified as sudden death report," he added.
