KL project to start at end of 2026

THE Bandar Malaysia project in Kuala Lumpur is expected to begin at the end of 2026, with plans underway to redevelop the site into an integrated smart city, says the Finance Ministry.

It said the masterplan for Bandar Malaysia is being reviewed to ensure the development is aligned with the government’s vision of a sustainable, technology-driven and transit-oriented urban hub.

“The review of the Bandar Malaysia masterplan is being carried out as an initial step towards developing the area in an integrated manner, including incorporating elements of a smart city,” the ministry said in a written reply to Tan Kok Wai (PH–Cheras).

Tan had asked the ministry to state the current status of the Bandar Malaysia project and the government’s plans to develop it as a smart city.
