KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Education Foundation has received a RM200,000 boost, further supporting its efforts to provide affordable education and healthcare for Malaysians.

UTAR Council member Tan Sri Chor Chee Heung received the donation from Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng in a brief ceremony here yesterday.

Lim had pledged to channel all public funding raised during his recent legal battle for defamation to national welfare organisations.

Chor said the contribution was meaningful regardless of the amount, and thanked those who had donated to Lim.

“While there are those donating millions, even RM200,000 is significant for an organisation that depends on public support,” he said, adding that the UTAR Education Foundation is a tax- exempt body.

Chor said the UTAR Education Foundation operates two institutions – the main campus in Kampar, Perak, and a campus in Sungai Long, Selangor.

It also owns UTAR Hospital, a teaching and community hospital in Kampar which offers affordable healthcare services and integrated healthcare facilities.

The UTAR hospital, Chor said, also benefitted from RM320mil raised from Malaysians and corporate donors.

Also present at the event was Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
