KOTA KINABALU: Regardless of money or gifts offered by political parties before the Sabah polls, voters should choose Barisan Nasional, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"I heard some of the rich political parties are offering money. If some offer RM500, take it. Some want to give RM1,000, take it – but give your votes to Barisan," said the coalition chairman.

He said since Barisan lost power in Sabah seven years ago, three coalitions have risen and fallen, yet state progress continues to stall.

"It is our time to come back to power and rebuild Sabah," said Ahmad Zahid at the launch of the Sabah Barisan election machinery here on Sunday (Nov 9).

He said the line-up of Sabah Barisan candidates for the state election would be tasked with rebuilding Sabah.

Zahid said that all Barisan candidates would be from Sabah and not from other states.

He added that if Barisan wins in the state elections, there would be more development, allocations, investments and welfare for the people of Sabah.

"I have told Sabah Barisan chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin to solve water issues in Sabah within three years and also to address existing power woes," he said.

Earlier, Bung said focus must be to ensure victory for their candidates and advised those who were not selected to swallow their pride because ultimately, their goal was to win the Sabah election and form the new state government.

Bung will announce Sabah Barisan candidates at 5pm on Sunday.
